It's not every day that a queer experimental film festival turns 15. So to celebrate this birthday, MIX: the New York Lesbian & Gay Experimental Film/Video Festival is throwing a quinceañera fiesta you won't want to miss.

MIX 2001, which runs from November 14-18, 2001 at Anthology Film Archives in New York, presents the festival's most adventurous and comprehensive lineup to date, encompassing over 150 films, videos and works in digital media-the majority of them premieres--plus free panels, site-specific installations, web-based media, and unmissable parties. Many filmmakers are expected to attend.

High drama, devastating glamour, mind-expanding visions, corporeal transformations and unbridled passion are just a few of the sublime sensations that await you in this special anniversary edition of MIX. ¡Sabroso!

Opening Night Quinceañera Ball
MIX 15 kicks off with a cherry-poppin' bang, uncorking some of the very best shorts in this year's fest, including work by Patty Chang, David Kalal, Pierre-Yves Clouin, Christopher Chong and Peggy Ahwesh. Premiere Selections
Our lineup is brimming over with more than 100 New York, U.S. and world premieres of works by the brightest lights in the queer film cosmos, including Nguyen Tan Hoang, Jennifer Reeves, Maïa Cybelle Carpenter, Dolissa Medina, Stuart Gaffney, Diane Nerwen, Ho Tam, Mike Hoolboom, Shawn Atkins, Neil Goldberg, Wrik Mead, Aurora Guerrero, Wayne Yung & Shawn Durr, Remy Weber... and dozens more!

Innovators Features
This year's Innovators Features section includes the Festival Centerpiece, the New York premiere of Canadian maestro John Greyson's latest, THE LAW OF ENCLOSURES, based on the novel by NY's Dale Peck. Also included is the New York premiere of I AM NOT WHAT YOU WANT, the debut featurette from Hong Kong-based Kit Hung.

Guest-Curated Programs
MIX's irresistible slate of guest-curated programs includes programs of queer youth media, Filipina lesbians performing identities, investigations into corporeal pleasures and terrors, virtuosic found-footage films, a full-on critique of hetero and homo norms, and a wondrous compilation of rare archival treasures from storied San Francisco.

Memorizing MIX: The First 15 Years A expanded anniversary edition of our annual retrospective sidebar skims the cream of MIX's first 15 years, with three programs curated by the festival's previous directors, Jim Hubbard, Shari Frilot, and Rajendra Roy & Anie S8 Stanley. Includes works by Lawrence Brose, Jerry Tartaglia, Tania Cypriano, Charles Lofton, E.T. Baby Maniac, Leah Gilliam, Ximena Cuevas, Rodney Evans and Martha Colburn.

Visions of Excess
Our spine-tingling midnite screening section includes the U.S. premiere of THE CUTTING, a harrowing and hilarious digital-video thriller from Belgium; and a special presentation of legendary German auteur Werner Schroeter's opulent flowers-of-evil classic, DER ROSENKONIG (THE ROSE KING).

Admission to "I've Been Framed: Queer Youth Media" on Saturday November 17 at 4pm is $5 for audience members under 21; valid I.D. required.
