LAUGH FOR A GOOD CAUSE WITH LIVE MASKED GIRLS!

On Sunday, December 16, top girl comics from HBO, Comedy Central, MTV and beyond will perform a holiday show to benefit GUERRILLA GIRLS THEATRE & GUERRILLAGIRLSBROADBAND and their future projects. Women performers who will flaunt humor too racy for male-dominated comedy clubs include Sue Costello, Judy Gold, Murray Hill, RENO, Deidre Sullivan, Carmelita Tropicana, Kate Rigg of Kate's Chink-O-Rama and Sharon Williams.

The Guerrilla Girls emerged in 1985 wearing gorilla masks and the personae of dead women artists. They have received both praise and scorn, received awards, written two books, and railed against sexism, racism, discrimination, homelessness and war. With the launching of Guerrilla Girls Theatre and GuerrillaGirlsBroadBand their fight for truth and justice and the feminist way continues in new arenas.

Guerrilla Girls Theatre functions as a theatre ensemble whose focus is on productions, actions and workshops that fight discrimination, sexism and racism in the theatre world. With the help of a NYSCA grant they recently wrote and premiered "The History of Women in American Theatre" at the ASK Common Ground Festival.

Seeking to go where no feminists have gone before, GuerrillaGirlsBroadBand tackles primordial thinking in a technologized world. Their site, www.ggbb.org, includes online feminist quizzes, streaming video, and interactive activism. Their feminist fashion show, STRUT!, is forthcoming.
