
David Medalla, FF Alumn, directs and performs in the London Biennale, July 2002, and invites performance artists' participation.
On Sunday, July
21, 2002, at 3 p.m., David Medalla will give a performance entitled 'The First
Mirror in China' at the beautiful Horniman Museum at Forest Hill, South London.
My performance will form part of the World Tea Party which is being hosted by
Vancouver-based artist Bryan Mulvihill (aka Trolley Bus). The World Tea Party
event is part of the London Biennale 2002. Over 3000 people are expected to
attend ther World Tea Party. Many distinguished international artists will be
giving perfomances and setting installations in the lovely gardens of the Horniman
Museum which has a panoramic view of London. Among the artists are Australian
artist Adam Nankervis (currently based in Berlin); Reynolds Norman from Brooklyn,
New York; Tiago Slewinski from Lisbon, Portugal; English artists Kim Creighton,
Stephen Roden, Jim Ursell, and Nick Sawyer; German artists Andreas Uhl and Fritz
Stolberg (the latter has constructed a mobile oscura inside a van with which
he will conduct a shuttle bus service between Forest Hill train station and
the Horniman Museum); Greek artist Marianthi Papalexandri; Portuguese artists
Rosa Freitas, Joao Simoes, Pedro Cabral and Diogo Teixeira; Brazilian artist
Mariana Scarambone; French artist Cyril Lepetit; Catalan artist Marisol Cavia;
the artists group 'foreign investment'; and many others. On August 14, 15, &
16, 2002, London Biennale will hold three evenings of live performances, installations,
film & video screenings, music and ppoetry readings at the 291 gallery,
291 Hackney Road, London. Artists are invited to participate in these events.
