Hello there,
Last night with a great deal of difficulty the organizers in New York and in Montreal of the "Artists Gestures" project decided to cancel our event or postpone it, although it isn't clear that this second option will be viable. Therefore I will not be arriving in New York, although I am considering to go ahead with my durational performative piece here in Montreal, as an act of and symbol for my wanting to trust that creativity and creative solutions are possible if the will is present and the imagination stirred to non-violent resolution of injustices and imbalances of power, resources and "surity." I am fairly shaken by yesterday's events on the large social scale and on the impact on my own small life. Mostly, what frightens me above all is the seeming certainty on the part of military and political leadership that what is being done is just and the moral right.
