WASHINGTON PAVILION TO FACILITATE
NEW COMMUNITY
ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROJECT - SIOUX FALLS 2000
(THE ART OF CHANGE) WITH ARTIST DANNY TISDALE
(Sioux Falls, S.D. 8/7/00) – The Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science will faciliate a new community artist-in-residency project entitled SIOUX FALLS 2000 (THE ART OF CHANGE) part of the Artists & Communities: America Creates for the Millennium project, sponsored by the White House Arts Council. Representatives from cultural, religious, social and education organizations, as well as any interested private individuals, are encouraged to participate. The Washington Pavilion has been selected by the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) as South Dakota’s only site to participate in Artists & Communities: America Creates for the Millennium, a national project celebrating the arts and community. It is the largest artists-in-residence program ever to be developed by these prestigious organizations. The program pairs professional artists with community residents to create arts projects that showcase the artists’ unique skills and address important social issues. The Washington Pavilion has chosen to work with Danny Tisdale, a multidisciplinary visual artist from New York City who will spend three months living and working with residents in Sioux Falls beginning in September. During his residency at the Washington Pavilion, Mr. Tisdale plans to work with many different "communities" throughout the city creating video, writing, photography, web-site, magazine, performance, a live tv/variety show art projects to name just afew.
